早川:我负责过EF400mm F2.8L IS III USM (2018年上市)的机械设计。当时,我们成功将前型号EF400mm F2.8L IS II USM减重1kg以上,这让我体会到了什么叫迭代升级。EOS R系统在同一时期问世,RF卡口让进一步减轻镜头重量成为可能。RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM是我们积累至今的专业知识的结晶。

片寄:RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM采用了萤石镜片和UD镜片结合镜片组来降低每组镜片产生的色差,从而实现高画质(尤其在远摄端)。萤石镜片比重较小,有助于减轻重量。我们在光圈附近采用三枚UD镜片,减少了画面中心的色差。还有一点,我们在最后一组镜片中采用了大口径GMo非球面镜片。这对于减少镜片数量和实现高画质至关重要。另外,对于300mm f/2.8镜头来说,许多用户注重虚化的美感,也关注大光圈。我们的设计就是在彻底抑制镜头色差的同时,还能保留柔和的虚化效果。此外,为了抑制鬼影,我们还采用了空气球形镀膜技术(ASC)来有效抑制光线反射。

早川:我们做了防尘、防水滴测试、防沙测试和变焦转动耐久性测试,都能确保镜头品质满足专业摄影师在拍摄时对L级镜头的特殊要求*。我们通过模拟测试完成减轻重量和增加强度两个工作,最终我们在镜头更轻和更坚固之间实现了良好平衡。
为了追求小型化、轻量化,同时还采用镜片组位置靠近卡口的光学设计,于是我们取消了插入式滤镜。结果是,没有了会影响镜筒强度的插槽,就能够降低外镜筒的厚度,于是进一步减轻了重量。
